Q What is Source Electronics Corporation? A Source Electronics is the largest programming center for integrated circuits and related devices. Headquartered in Hollis, New Hampshire Source has a total of seven locations. There are two (2) facilities in the United States located in Hollis, NH and Fremont CA. Other facilities are located in Guadalajara, Mexico, Sao Paulo Brazil, Manaus, Brazil and Singapore.
Q How do You Contact Source Electronics for Detailed Information? A There are several ways to contact Source Electronics. You can call our Headquarters in Hollis, NH at 800.227.2929 or our Fremont, CA facility at 800.655.8882 within the US. If you are located in Mexico you can call our Guadalajara facility at 52.33.3689.4949. In Brazil, you would call our Sao Paulo facility at 65.3867.1041 or the Manaus facility at 55.19.3867.1041. And, our Asia facility located in Singapore can be contacted by calling 65.6867.8130. Any of our Account Representatives will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Q What Services Does the Company Provide? A In addition to programming these devices, other services include IC Testing, Lead Scanning, Laser and Ink Marking, Taping and Reeling and Supply Chain Management. All services provided by Source are done prior to production. Product is received ready for your production lines.
Q Why do Companies Need to Use Programming Centers? A It is very costly to staff and maintain these facilities. Technology changes weekly in the electronics industry and it is costly to keep up with these changes. Most companies are experts at manufacturing product(s) but not with programming or other pre-production services. Source has been providing these services to the electronics industry for over 15 years.
Q What is a Programming Center? A A programming center is used to program the manufacturer’s devices with customer specific information. When devices are shipped from the Semiconductor manufacturer they have preset tolerances that will work within certain parameters. The customer buys these devices and then needs someone to transfer their information into the devices so they will work in their end product. This does not require computer programmers sitting at personal computers writing code.
Q How Does Source Fit Into the Manufacturing Process? A Source’s services are known as either back-end or pre-production services. We receive your product directly from you or the distributor for processing. When it is received it is either placed into inventory or sent onto the production floor for processing. Once our services are completed, the product is packaged (per your specifications) and shipped to the address provided. The product is received already packaged to fit into your production process.
QWhat Types of Equipment do You Use? AThe type of equipment is dependent on the services provide. Below you will find the manufacturers of the equipment used for the services provided.
QWhat Quality Assurance Systems do You Adhere to? ASource is in the process of obtaining TS16949 registration and is a QS9000 and ISO9002 registered company. All facilities adhere to the same standards assuring consistent product from each location.
QWhat Are the Benefits of Using Source Electronics? ADevices are received on time and they function according to customer-specified parameters. QS9000 and ISO9002 registration of all processes ensures a reliable quality standard for all product processed in our facilities. The Electro-static Discharge (ESD) Class “0” tolerance in our facilities enables us to efficiently process all class types of devices without changing processes, thereby reducing lead times.
QWhat is Your Standard Lead Time? ALead times vary depending on the number of services you require. Typically, we can program, mark, tape and reel and ship a lot within three (3) business days. However, expedite and rush orders can be accommodated within 1 hour to 24 hours.
QCan You Drop Ship Anywhere in the World? AWe currently use several custom brokers that service different countries. If we do not have a customer broker that handles your country of destination, we will work with you to find one that meets your needs.
QWhat is Source Electronics' Definition of a Program Number? ASource uses the customer’s unique part number as the Program Number to identify the finished product. Customers use the same Manufacturer’s raw parts for several different applications and this unique part number identifies the finished product.
QWhat Does Source Mean When They Refer to a 1st Article? ASource uses the term 1st Article to identify a first piece (sample) or a printed hard copy showing the customer’s information to process their devices. The customer can try the first piece in their prototype or they have the option to waive the first piece by signing the hard copy and returning it to Source so the product can go into production.
Q How Would We Communicate our Information to Source? A Source has established many different modes for communicating with customers. Of course you could call or fax your Account Representative. You can also send your files to Source via email or upload them to our ftp site. You will have to contact your Account Representative for detailed information when using email or the ftp site. Source will also accept Master devices.
Q What Makes Source Different from Other Programming Centers? A Source has dedicated engineers to work with customers on their specific needs. The Technical Support department works closely with the production managers and account representatives to ensure the customers product is to specification. The Technical Support/Customer ratio is 1:4, which is higher than any other in the industry. Source works closely with the equipment manufacturers to ensure the most current algorithms and machinery is in use. |
